What can YOU get done at 6 AM?

So this morning I find myself up a whole hour ahead of schedule. Granted, I’m off work today, but either way, I’m faced with a whole whackload of extra time on my hands before the day even starts. 60 minutes may not seem like a lot, but it’s enough time to do several key things in your day to help you free up your schedule for later. One of my favorite fitness chicks over at FBG recently shared her experience spending time with some friends whose eating and fitness philosophy relied mainly on greasy food and the boob tube. As Tish concluded, having a good support base can be the best offence in getting to the finish line. However, what happens when most of the people you hang out with are big fans of takeout, long pyjama days, alcohol, and ditching the morning jog? I started thinking about this in my own life as well.

Do your friends get the better of you and your fitness commitments?

What are YOU listening to at the gym?

I tend to go through phases, so depending on how I’m feeling, the playlist can vary. Music, as we’ve talked about, can be a great motivator at the gym. What’s more, when matching the music to the mood, there’s some definite distinctions that come to mind.

1. When Pumping Iron, Pump Up the Iron Maiden

When weight lifting, I love …

Yesterday, I gave you a peak into my gym bag and talked a bit about my top five fitness items. Today, I’ll discuss fashion—fitness fashion, that is. Ever the fan of performance and functionality, my gym outfits tend to be more concerned with “gettin’ it done” better. However, I’d be lying if I said that I’d be comfortable working out in total scrubs, either. As you check out what a typical workout outfit looks like for me, I invite you to think about a couple fun questions about fitness fashion:

What’s most important to you in terms of fitness fashion: price or performance? Do you prefer exercising in shorts, pants, or crops? How often do you “update” your fitness wardrobe?

My Fitness Fashion,
